The Business Manager provides sales and expense analyses for all departments, accurately represents the financial condition of the dealership, ensures compliance with the controls necessary for the proper conduct of the business, and maintains accurate records. The Business Manager supervises accounting associate support staff and interacts frequently with the General Manger, department managers and other individuals as needed.
  • A minimum of four to six years of experience as a Business Manager or a Controller
  • High volume, multi store experience strongly preferred.
  • Intercompany accounting experience and competency strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of dealership financial statements.
  • Ability to explain technical financial information in an understandable manner.
  • CDK experience preferred.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Good communication skills.

  • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations of two or more stores to ensure that all transactions are recorded in compliance with accounting policies and processes.
  • Accurately prepare and submit required external financial statements and internal management reports in accordance with established timeframes.
  • Interpret and analyze financial statements and internal reports.
  • Assist department managers in reading and interpreting their financial reports and as needed, in creating action plans to improve their operation.
  • Work with the General Manager and department managers to improve revenue and reduce expenses to meet or exceed budgets and grow the business.
  • Maintain an effective receivables collection monitoring and reporting system.
  • Perform complex reconciliations and reporting as required (e.g., Sales Tax, Bank, Floorplan).
  • Manage and safeguard assets and ensure that internal controls are in place.
  • Daily cash management and reconciliation.
  • Monitor and maintain accounting schedules.
  • Set up prepaid and accrual accounts to accurately account for and expense liabilities.
  • Participates in the preparation of short- and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership.
  • Performs the reconciliation of general ledger accounts with outside sources to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payable, and floor plan payable.
  • Performs the reconciliation of payroll, rents, property tax accruals and payments, demo inventories, service loaner inventories, permit review and submission and management fee accrual, review, and payment.
  • Performs the reconciliation of the fixed asset system.
  • Performs the reconciliation of cost of sales adjustments.
  • Respond to requests for information and assistance in a timely manner.
  • Manage and coach staff members to ensure that corporate initiatives are attained.
  • Other duties as assigned.
